Barbary Macaque of Gibraltar. The Gibraltar monkeys all descend from North African populations and constitute the only wild population of macaques on the European continent. They were probably introduced by the Moors who kept them as pets. Currently, nearly 300 macaques, divided into 5 groups occupy the upper part of the Rock.<\/p>\n<\/div>
