Olive branch. The cultivation of the olive tree was introduced to the Maltese Islands in ancient times, with some olive trees dating back over 1,000 years. The culture of the olive tree flourished in particular under the Phoenicians and the Romans. Olive oil production has been reborn in Malta for a few years after olive trees were once cut down to make way for orange and almond trees.<\/p>\n<\/div>
