The giant spider snail (Lambis truncata). It is the largest species in the pteropod family, reaching lengths of up to 40 cm. Its heavy shells are characterized by their angular shape and seven prominent, finger-like projections (spines) along the outer edge. It is found in the Indo-Pacific region as well as on Tuvalu. It prefers sandy bottoms and mud in sheltered shallow waters and feeds primarily on red algae.<\/p>\n<\/div>
