Horseshoe. A belief collected in Pl\u0101\u0146i says a horseshoe fixed at the inside threshold helps prevent anything from being stolen from the household. It places the familiar protective horseshoe specifically at the Latvian symbolic boundary between house and outside. If the ends of the horseshoe face upward, good fortune will arrive from the heavens, if they face downward, it will flow up from the earth. Both views are present in the Latvian tradition.<\/p>\n<\/div>
