Imperial eagle. One of Turkey’s flagship raptors, it breeds primarily in Thrace, and the forested regions of Bolu and Ankara. This species is a globally vulnerable species that is thought to be less than 50 pairs overall in the country. Breeding birds prefer territories between 900-1500 m altitude that are close to a water body and at the edge of a wooded patch, mostly composed of Black Pine trees.
