Greco-Roman wrestling. It is very likely the oldest sporting discipline still in existence, along with athletics. The earliest traces date back to the discovery of cave paintings dating from 3000 BC depicting wrestlers. It made its debut at the Ancient Games in 708 BC; it was then the final, decisive event of the pentathlon (after the discus, javelin, long jump, and running).
