São Francisco de Assis Church of São João del Rei. It is a major baroque building in the Minas Gerais region. Designed by Aleijandinho and adapted by Francisco de Lima Cerqueira, its construction began in 1774 and was completed in 1809. It houses a magnificent sculpted facade with lime-covered walls and a gilded wooden altarpiece that serves as a sanctuary to statues of the time.
