Augusto Nicolás Calderón de Sandino (1895-1934). This Nicaraguan guerrilla leader was the head of the resistance against the US occupation in Nicaragua and a supporter of Hispano-Americanism. On July 1, 1927, he proclaimed his manifesto, in which he praised the continued Nicaraguan resistance to the US intervention in his country.
