Stylized bull’s head, possibly a bull mask. In ancient times, bull masks made from real bull skulls were worn in rites, and neolithic bull-horned stone altars have been found in Cyprus. The bull was one of the most important iconographic symbols in Cypriot culture beginning in the Early Bronze Age. The introduction of cattle to Cyprus was the most important contribution to local lifestyle, economy, symbolism and religious traditions.
