Cuban land snail or painted snail (Polymita picta). Endemic to Cuba, these arboreal molluscs live mainly in coastal habitats in the subtropical forest of eastern Cuba. Their shells reach a length of 20 mm. They are shiny and very brightly colored. Endangered by collectors and the jewellery industry, these snails are protected since 1943 and the export forbiden.
