Dalmatian pelican. With an average weight of 11 kg and a wingspan of about 3 meters, it is the largest and most endangered of the eight species of pelicans. It is found from the Balkans to Central Asia and the Middle East. Kazakhstan is home to one of the largest breeding populations of this species worldwide, estimated at around 3,000 breeding pairs. It is listed in the Red Book of Threatened Species in Kazakhstan.
