Javan rusa. This deer is native to the islands of Indonesia and East Timor. Introduced populations exist in Mauritius and remote islands, probably brought there by Indonesian fishermen, and a wide variety of countries in the Southern hemisphere. Males weigh 150 to 160 kg and their head-to-body length varies from 140 to 185 cm. Quite common on Mauritius, it’s considered a plague in the forests.
