Caravel Santa María. It is with the Santa-Anna (la Niña) and the Santa-Clara (la Pinta) one of the three ships that enabled Christopher Columbus to cross the Atlantic Ocean during his first expedition to the Americas in 1492. After a journey of almost two and a half months in the Caribbean Sea, it finally sank on Christmas night 1492 on the coast of Hispaniola off Cap-Haitien.
