Corncob. This cereal has long been emblematic of Romanian agriculture. Consumed in the form of corn flour porridge called “mămăligă” (a traditional Romanian and Moldavian dish) it is the equivalent of Italian polenta. It was once a substitute for bread, the staple food in poor rural areas.
