Aardvark. This nocturnal animal roams over most of the southern two-thirds of the African continent. Its name in Afrikaans is “earth pig” due to its long pig-like snout, which is used to sniff out food. The aardvark feeds ants and termites, which it digs out of their hills using its sharp claws and powerful legs.
