African oil palm or macaw-fat. This tree is widely grown for its fruits and seeds rich in oil for food and industrial use. In the wild, it measures 20 to 25 meters. In Nigeria, the oil palm is native to the coastal plain. It is the largest producer of palm oil in Africa, ahead of Ivory Coast and the 4th largest in the world with 1 million tons per year.
