Common eland also Southern eland. With an average weight of 600 kg, it is one of the largest antelopes in Africa. It is found over vast areas of southern and eastern Africa and in a wide variety of habitats, particularly in savannah and sparse forests but also in the desert. It is recognizable by its straight twisted horns.
