European lobster. It often measures 25 to 50 cm, can reach 60 cm and weigh up to 12 kg. The claws of large individuals are huge. The young is light blue and the adult is dark blue to black. Its longevity is several decades. It lives on rocky bottoms up to 60 m. It is found in the North Atlantic from Norway to Morocco, and in the Mediterranean. Fished mainly by trap, this heritage species has become rare due to overexploitation.
