Independence monument in front of the administrative map of Turkmenistan. This 118-meter-high monument was erected in Ashgabat, the capital, to celebrate the country’s emancipation from the USSR on October 27, 1991. The building’s architecture is inspired by the yurts, traditional tents of the nomads of Central Asia .
