Mayflower. This square-rigged sailing merchand ship weighted about 180 tons and measured 27 metres long. It remianed famous in American colonial history for carrying 102 Pilgrims and 32 crew members from England to Plymouth, Massachusetts, where they established the first permanent New England colony in 1620. On November 11, 1620, the pilgrims were asked to sign on board the “Mayflower Compact” agreement, a legal instrument that bound the Pilgrims together when they arrived in New England.
