Great Wall of China. It measures, officially, 21,196.18 km long and 5 to 8 m high for the portions that have remained intact or restored. Parts of the wall were built along mountain ridges to make them appear higher. It stretches from northwest China to northeast China crossing nine provinces. With a long history dating back over 2,300 years, the Great Wall was built across different regions under successive dynasties and kingdoms of China to protect the borders of the territory from potential enemies.
