Bratislava Castle (Bratislavský hrad) in the center of the capital of the country. The first important fortification was built by the Slavs during the time of the Moravian empire in the late IXth century. The castle was mentioned for the first time in 805 and then in 907. The last major reconstruction work took place in the 18th century between 1755 and 1765. The main function changed from a defense fortress to a baroque residential castle.
